Globe welcomes new CIO

MANILA, Philippines - Globe Telecom welcomes the appointment of Henry Rhoel R. Aguda as chief information officer effective Jan. 1, 2012. Aguda will be heading the company’s Information Systems Group and will provide technology leadership for developing and implementing information technology (IT) initiatives through the creation of technology architecture, infrastructure, and processes in support of business goals. Aguda holds over two decades of experience in the IT profession, of which 13 years were devoted to the telecommunications industry. His years in telecommunications demonstrated ability to bring the benefits of IT to solve business issues while managing costs and mitigating risks. Prior to joining Globe, Aguda was the chief technology officer and senior vice president for the IT Group of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS). Aguda was awarded the 2010 ASEAN CIO of the Year Award for Government Sector by the International Data Group (IDG) for the positive turnaround of GSIS services. Aguda will play a significant role in driving the company’s major IT transformation program which will create a streamlined and integrated information environment. The system transformation effort is a comprehensive re-engineering of Globe Telecom’s IT systems over the next two years, which will lead to convergent billings and more innovative product development, faster response to customer queries and service requests by our stores and call centers.
