PLDT setting up WiFi zone network

MANILA, Philippines - Telecommunications leader Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) is setting up a network of WiFi zones in Metro Manila establishments to provide its myDSL and landline service subscribers unlimited Internet connection even outside their homes or offices.

“PLDT WiFi Zones” are being set up in restaurants, malls, gas stations, bars, salons, PC shops, hospitals, and PLDT business offices, among others, in Metro Manila and soon in key provincial cities.

The PLDT partner establishments get a boost of up to 100Mbps guaranteed premium and reliable connection for use of their customers.

PLDT landline and myDSL subscribers can enjoy unlimited Internet access in these PLDT WiFi Zones as an add-on service to their basic subscription.

A free trial for the service is available for PLDT myDSL and landline subscribers until end-November.

Businesses that are already PLDT WiFi zones include select branches of Yellow Cab Pizza, Burger King, Army Navy, Resorts World’s Republiq and Opus, Eastwood Mall, PC Express, Toyota dealers, Cardinal Santos Hospital, The Medical City, and PLDT Business Offices.

“This new service is like an extension of our subscribers’ Internet connection at home. Now they can experience premium WiFi service outside their home,” PLDT vice president for myDSL Retail Business Group Gary Dujali said.

He added that users just need to look for the WiFi Zone logo in select establishments to experience high-speed connection from a PLDT WiFi Zone.

PLDT myDSL and landline postpaid subscribers only need to register online via www.pldtwifizone.com for their unique WiFi PIN while non-PLDT subscribers can get the free trial WiFi PINs by requesting them from the establishments’ personnel.

“We’re also working on expanding this service to our PLDT subscribers in key provincial cities all over the country,” Dujali added.
