MANILA, Philippines - Eastwood City Cyberpark, the Philippines’ pioneering IT park, is still number one across the country, after notching the top spot in two key figures from data released by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).
Located in Bagumbayan, Quezon City, Eastwood City Cyberpark registered an employment figure of 19,395 for 2010, highest among all registered information technology (IT) parks and buildings nationwide and a 15 percent improvement from 2009 employment numbers.
Counting non-PEZA registered locators, such as banks, restaurants, shops and service-oriented companies in Eastwood City Cyberpark, the satellite city has provided jobs to more than 35,000 individuals, according to property developer Megaworld Corp., the country’s number one business process outsourcing (BPO) office landlord.
With salaries and wages paid out in PEZA-registered companies totaling P7.93 billion, Eastwood City was also number one in this category. This was 15 percent more than the P6.72 billion in salaries and wages from the previous year.
Eastwood City Cyberpark also registered an increase in another important category, as exports of the cyberpark’s outshoring and offshoring (O&O) locators tallied $354.19 million.
Among the prominent locators in Eastwood City Cyberpark are Citibank, IBM, Stream, Siemens, Dell, Astec-Emerson, Sitel, Concentrix, WNS and its newest entrant, Accenture.
