MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Association of Flour Millers (Pafmil) opens its baking center with a 20-day Basic Commercial Baking Course Jan. 31–Feb. 25. The course is open to all baking enthusiasts particularly those intending to start a bakery business. The course includes discussion on the functions of ingredients and proper use of equipment in a commercial bakery setting. Bakery management and accounting and product pricing also takes up a substantial portion of the course. Tuition is P15,000 and will cover the cost of ingredients and training materials. Only 20 persons will be accommodated per course to ensure quality instruction. Lectures will be held in the mornings while the whole afternoons will be devoted to actual baking activities. Located at the DSWD Jose Favella Center, Correctional Road, Mandaluyong City, the PAFMIL Baking Center is the flour millers’ response to the need to upgrade the technical and scientific knowledge of bakers in the country. PAFMIL Baking center is staffed by highly qualified instructors who among them have trained in the United States, Thailand and have had extensive experiences in the bakery and ingredients industries.
