MANILA, Philippines - The Gokongwei-owned Robinsons Galleria Mall is undertaking a major facelift to add nearly 100,000 square meters of gross leasable space and around 55 new tenants.
In a statement issued on Friday, the property’s developer, Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC) said the expansion of its flagship mall in Ortigas will bring the total retail shops to 450 from the current 395 to keep up with the ever-changing needs of shoppers.
According to RLC, construction will take a total of six months with the Sports Loop and Jumpstreet expected to be operational by September while the Veranda will be ready to serve customers by December or January next year.
“All these are meant to give Robinsons Galleria a more refreshing and vibrant feel as we position the mall as the premier destination in the area,” said RLC president Frederick Go, adding that most of the retail stores in Galleria have also been renovated based on new standards introduced by the mall management.
“We are increasing space for retail outlets to make Robinsons Galleria more appealing to those who may want to look for a place to go to after work, and also to accommodate new retail players and formats, ” Go added.
The bulk of the renovation and expansion work will be at the second level, including large areas currently used for parking, to be developed into the Veranda featuring restaurants to cater to families during weekends and serve as a place for professionals to hang out during weekdays and at night since these will operate beyond mall hours.
Also up for improvement will be the mall’s façade, a new tech lounge while more features will be added to improve access for the disabled. Valet parking may also be offered.
