Smart Broadband users now enjoy faster surfing

MANILA, Philippines - Residential subscribers of Smart Broadband, Inc. (SBI), a subsidiary of leading wireless services provider Smart Communications can now experience faster Internet surfing, video streaming, and downloading.

SBI recently announced that its fixed wireless (Canopy) Smart Bro service may now reach speeds of up to two megabytes-per-second (Mbps).

Initially, the service upgrade benefits all new and existing Smart Bro Canopy individual subscribers in Pasig, San Juan, Mandaluyong, Makati, Parañaque, Pasay, Quezon City, Novaliches and Kalookan. The upgrade is expected to be rolled out to the rest of the country very soon.

“We have fortified our network and optimized available technologies, enabling us to offer superior service quality to our broadband subscribers at no additional cost to them,” Smart wireless consumer division head Danilo Mojica said.

Officials said the service upgrade to two Mbps for its Canopy subscribers reinforces Smart Bro’s “broadbandest” claim, that of unmatched speeds of up to 20 Mbps with the HSPA+ technology adopted by Smart for its broadband offers, and the widest network coverage with over 5,000 3G, HSPA, and HSPA+ cell sites nationwide.

Smart recently announced that it now serves, through SBI, over a million broadband subscribers all over the country - 600,000 of which are on prepaid. It also recently launched Smart Bro SurfTV, which allows Internet access through the television set.
