Franchising roadshow kicks off in Davao

MANILA, Philippines - The Franchise Institute of the Philippines (FIP), under the auspices of GMB Franchise Developers president and recognized Philippine franchising guru Armando “Butz” O. Bartolome, will be touring key cities in the country starting this month to educate the public on responsible franchising and the intricacies of the franchising business.

Bartolome, the country’s most sought-after speaker on franchising who has been conducting seminars, client consultations and speaking engagements in Metro Manila and in neighboring countries in Asia and the Middle East saw the extent of interest and the need to also educate the public in key cities and provinces nationwide.

Supported by the Department of Trade and Industry and Media Blitz PR Consultancy, the franchise road show will kick off at Antonio’s Bar and Grill in Davao City on Nov. 26 and at Tita Fannie’s Liempo and Chicken Haus in Cagayan de Oro on Nov. 28.

“If one wants to join the franchising bandwagon it is important that he is armed with knowledge on these topics particularly in identifying who is the responsible franchisor and who is not,” Bartolome said, noting that there is a growing number of individuals who have been conned into investing in a business format franchise and paying the concomitant fees only to know it is simply a product distributorship with no support and assistance.

“It is not franchising when the benefit is lopsided in favor of one party. Franchising’s terms of reference will always be the good it can do to all parties involved and most of all to the consumers who patronize the branches countrywide,” he stressed.
