Yap opens international agriculture show at WTC today

MANILA, Philippines - Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap will lead the international agribusiness community in opening the Agri-link, Foodlink and Aqualink 2009 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila at 9 a.m. today.

Yap will cut the ribbon signaling the start of this international event right after delivering his keynote speech, which is expected to delve into the status and prospects of the industry and its role in the national economic development and recovery efforts.

Preceding Yap’s speech will be the welcome remarks by Agrilink 2009 chairman and aquaculture industry leader Philip Ong.

With Yap and Ong at the ribbon-cutting rites are National Agricultural and Fishery Council fruits and vegetables committee chairperson Dulce Gozon, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Director Malcolm Sarmiento, and Foundation for Resource Linkage and Development (FRLD) president Antonio V. Roces.

Also expected to join the opening rites are French Ambassador Thieray Borja de Mozata, the board members of the FRLD and the co-organizers of Agrilink, Foodlink and Aqualink.
