Philippine beer and liquor products received several gold medals in the Monde Selection 2008 awarding ceremonies held in Vienna recently, besting entries from more than 70 countries, an embassy report said Saturday.
Philippine Ambassador to Austria Linglingay Lacanlale reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) that the gold medal affirmed Ginebra San Miguel’s place among the finest quality products in the alcoholic beverages category worldwide.
Lacanlale, representing San Miguel Corp. (SMC), received five gold medals, four silver medals and one bronze for beer and liquor products of Ginebra and San Miguel during the closing ceremonies of the Monde Selection 2008. SMC could not send a representative to the event.
Lacanlale said “receiving the award was a high point in this week’s events in Vienna, where a Philippine Food Festival is ongoing at the Hilton Hotel to promote Philippine food and beverage in the market.”
