Gokongwei-owned Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC) expects to complete the development of its three-level mall in Dumaguete City by the middle of 2009.
Robinsons Dumaguete, RLC’s fourth mall in the Visayas region, will be the first and only full service shopping mall in Dumaguete.
“Robinsons Dumaguete will be the center of activity for the province. This is where locals, tourists, students and others will converge, meet and experience a whole new way of life,” said Nilo Mapa, RLC business unit general manager.
“Dumaguete is ready for this change. The residents are well educated and well-heeled plus local economy is booming with a lot of activity coming from tourism, and call centers,” Mapa added.
The project will also include a hotel which will have over 80 rooms and a 3,000 square meter trade exhibit hall.
“With first class facilities and a modern trade hall, Robinsons Dumaguete Mall is expected to be a major component of the Dumaguete central business district,” Mapa said.
RLC is currently operating three shopping malls in key cities in Visayas namely, Robinsons Place Bacolod, Robinsons Place Iloilo and Robinsons Place Cebu.
Another shopping mall, Robinsons Tacloban, is also expected to be operational soon. The two-level shopping mall with a gross floor area of 30,000 square meters will rise in a four-hectare property along the national highway in Tacloban City, Leyte, the largest province in Eastern Visayas.
RLC presently has 20 shopping malls, 23 residential condominiums, five office buildings, 27 housing and land developments and three hotels.
