Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) chairman Feliciano G. Salonga, together with top officials of Bay Pointe Hospital and Medical Center Inc., recently signed the lease contract for the P200 million hospital to be put up at the central business district (CBD) of the Subic Freeport.
Apart from medical tourism, Salonga said the new hospital would service the heath care needs of more than 62,000 workers and executives of multi-national companies operating inside the zone.
"Providing a high-quality medical facility is part of SBMAs social responsibilities to ensure a safe and healthy environment," Salonga said.
SBMA administrator Armand Arreza said that the Subic Freeport is an ideal place for medical tourism because of the clean environment and beautiful surroundings with a high level of medical professionalism that the Bay Pointe Hospital would be offering.
"We can ensure that you will have pleasant and memorable moments in Subic Freeport," Arreza said as he cited the various tourism related activities available in Subic.
These activities include sports, eco-tourism, beaches, historical, cultural and a lot more.
Bay Ponte Hospital and Medical Center Inc. president Amado Manuel C. Enriquez Jr., said the project was conceptualized to address the vital need of the Freeport zone for a modern hospital facility.
Initially, Bay Pointe plans to put up a 100-bed hospital with complete medical and therapeutic facilities in a 3,000 square meter area located along the CBD.
Bay Pointe Hospital eventually plans to expand to the adjacent lot to complete the one-hectare medical facility and to be able to upgrade to a 300-bed capacity for the second phase of its development plan.
The hospital would carry the latest state of the art equipment such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), CT scanner, advance ultrasound machine, high-tech cardiograph apparatus and other modern medical equipment. To date, there are five new hotels and several restaurants within the coastal and leisure area of Subic.
The lease-contract signing was attended by prominent medical practitioners in Olongapo City such as Drs. Cesar Lim, Alberto and Marietta Ablang, Rudy and Erlinda Alconga, Ma. Leah Pulmano-Lim, Jesse Manuel, Wilfedo Santos, Ed Bongco, Oscar Imperial and Eng. Gene Orillaza, who are all joining the Bay Pointe Hospital.
