Let’s begin with some good news. Recently, a high official of Philippine Airlines ran into trouble with the employees’ union. For more or less 39 years, this person has worked his way up in PAL to become what he is today – the one in charge of managing PAL’s flight schedules. According to our ear-spies, PAL’s flight schedules have improved ever since he took over the helm. The employees’ union wants him out because "he is too strict." But being in the airline business where scheduling of flights is the key to good business, the person argued that his attitude was merely an expression of professional ethics. And rightly so. To make a long and grueling story short, he was finally reinstated by no less than El Kapitan himself. Not only is the scheduling of flights back in good hands, but this person will soon be able to kick back and relax, and enjoy his retirement benefits when he reaches 40 years of efficient service next year.
If you have noticed that a senator has been very quiet lately, then you’re on to something. The former presidential hopeful is said to be feeling guilty over the separation of his son to the latter’s foreign wife. Because of this, according to our ear-spies, he has decided to just finish his term and ride off to the sunset. The son reportedly blamed his Dad’s absence and political involvement for the estrangement. That could be one of the biggest
non sequiturs of the year. It would sound more like a cop-out to any rational individual. This reminds us of the time when Rose Kennedy complained to her dad, Boston Mayor John Fitzgerald, about her marital problems with Joe Kennedy. Fitzgerald could only say, "You made up your bed. Stay in it!" After almost a hundred years, that still makes sense for struggling presidential dynasties.
Speaking of presidential dynasties, our spa-ring eye-spy "The Man from Istanbul" reported that he was positively shocked to see a young, well-known newspaper columnist in a Quezon City massage parlor along Morato Ave. The young man was accompanied by his male friend. What coincidences. Mayor Morato was a crony of this young man’s presidential grandfather. On one hand, the Kastila had an eye for women. But according to our ear-spies, this guy may just have an eye for men. This guy’s macho grandpappy must be ranting and raving in his grave by now.
