Philstar columnist wins award for promoting financial literacy

MANILA, Philippines - Philstar columnist and financial literacy advocate Rose Fres Fausto won big in the first Sinag Awards launched by Sun Life Financial, Inc., which recognizes efforts to help Filipinos become financially independent.

Fausto was the grand prize winner of the #SINAG Financial Literacy Digital Journalism Award for her online articles about financial parenting and raising children with high financial quotient. She has a weekly column at philstar.com titled 'Raising Children with High FQ,' and also maintains two websites- RaisingPinoyBoys.com and the recently launched FQMom.com. 

Fausto recently launched her latest book, 'The Retelling of the Richest Man in Babylon' is her take on the personal finance classic written by George Clason in 1926 where the famous mantra “Pay yourself first!” originated. The book is narrated in easy to understand language that elicits conversation between the parent and child. It gives young children the head start on the basic laws of money, and at the same time reminding the adults how simple the laws are. 

The book, with a trailer participated in by key Finance people like Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima, Philippine Stock Exchange President Hans Sicat, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Deputy Governor Nestor Espenilla Jr., COL Financial Founder and Chair Edward Lee, Sun Life President Riza Mantaring, founding president of the Fund Managers Association of the Philippines Marvin Fausto, financial literacy advocates Bo Sanchez, Salve Duplito, Randell Tiongson and Edric Mendoza, has quickly sold thousands of copies to date.
