Fist of Fury XIII to feature four championship fights

CEBU, Philippines — Four championship fights will highlight the “Fist of Fury XIII” fight card of Chao Sy International Promotions on November 14 at Fuente Osmeña Circle in Cebu City.
Noted boxing promoter Lorenzo “Chao” Sy formally announced the event together with Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC) Chairman Dr. Rhoel Dejano and CCSC Executive Director Rocky Alcoseba in a press conference on Wednesday, November 4, at La Fortuna’s Sto. Niño branch.
“Free ni atong paboksing, mas maayo daghang tawo makatan-aw,” said Sy, explaining his decision to stage the promotion at one of the city’s historic landmarks.
In the main event, John Kevien Jimenez (10-5, 5 KOs) of Cebu City will trade punches with Manila’s Carlo Diaz (9-4-1, 1 KO) for the Philippine minimumweight crown.
“Focus lang mi ani sa gameplan. Gusto lang gyud namo nga modaog ug makuha ang bakos,” said Jimenez. “Kompiyansa ko sa akong tsansa kay naghago mi sa training ug gipangandam namo og maayo kining awaya.”
In the other championship matches, Junebirt Bantay (10-2, 2 KOs) of Mandaue City will face veteran Richie Mepranum (38-10-1, 12 KOs) of General Santos City for the Asian Boxing Federation (ABF) featherweight belt.
Jemuel Arañas (9-4-1, 5 KOs) of Carcar City, meanwhile, will take on Davao City’s James Clarion (7-1-1, 4 KOs) for the Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) Youth flyweight strap.
Matchmaker Edcel Mike Tuñacao said the fourth title duel, featuring a Filipino and a Japanese boxer, will be announced soon.
In the undercards, Erich Binoya of Omega Gym will slug it out with Cebu City’s Jimmybie Cais, while Robert Searles of The Legend Gym will square off against Mandaue City’s Jerson Baclohan.
Several amateur bouts have also been lined up to add more action to the slam-bang spectacle.
