MANILA, Philippines — Sun Life is bringing cyclists, runners, young athletes and families together for the inaugural Sun Life Bike & Run on November 8 at the Ayala Vermosa Sports Hub in Imus, Cavite. The event offers a range of cycling and running activities for participants of all ages and fitness levels, encouraging more people to embrace active, healthier lifestyles.

Building on the success of its annual cycling event, Sun Life is expanding its sports platform by introducing a run category, giving more Filipinos opportunities to stay active, pursue their fitness goals and bond through sports.

The event will feature 60-km and 45-km bike rides for cycling enthusiasts seeking a longer challenge, as well as a 15-km ride for those looking for a shorter route. Kids’ rides and a family ride will offer younger participants and their loved ones an opportunity to enjoy the sport together, while a 5-km run will open the event to those who prefer to hit the ground running.

More than a test of endurance, the event aims to make physical activity an enjoyable and shared experience – one that encourages people to step outdoors, move more and build healthier habits with friends and family.

Registration is ongoing. Interested participants may sign up through Sunrise Events or visit Sun Life Cycle PH event information and registration details.

Race kits may be claimed on November 5 and 6, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., at the second floor of One Bonifacio High Street in Bonifacio Global City.

For Sun Life, the addition of running to its established cycling program represents more than an expansion of race categories. It reflects a continuing effort to bring more people into the movement for better health and well-being.

Cycling has gained ground as both a competitive sport and a lifestyle activity, attracting communities drawn to its physical benefits, outdoor appeal and opportunities for camaraderie. By incorporating a run category, Sun Life is extending that sense of community beyond cyclists to include runners, friends and family members who may not own a bike but share a commitment to staying active.

The result is an event designed to bring together people with different abilities and interests around a common goal: making health and fitness part of everyday life.

Family-oriented activities, particularly the kids’ rides and family ride, also provide an opportunity for parents and children to discover the joys of movement together. Beyond the excitement of race day, such experiences can help foster an appreciation for physical activity among young people and encourage families to build healthier routines.

The event likewise offers participants a chance to connect with fellow enthusiasts, share their passion for an active lifestyle and experience the energy of a community united by wellness. (Contributed story)
