Quezon City police clearance chief axed

MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City Police District has relieved its clearance section chief pending an investigation into a viral complaint alleging that QCPD personnel were singing instead of attending to applicants at the city hall.
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte apologized to the complainant and vowed to prevent a repeat of the alleged service lapse.
The QCPD said initial verification and transaction records indicated that police clearance services continued on Oct. 12 under an alternate lunch-break arrangement.
Police said the relief was an administrative measure and did not prejudge the official’s liability.
