Motorcycle rider dies in crash

CEBU, Philippines — A 25-year-old motorcycle rider died after his motorcycle crashed into the rear portion of a truck parked along the road in Barangay Colase, Samboan, Cebu, around 3:15 A.M. last Thursday, October 1.

The victim was identified as Junel James Trapa, a resident of Barangay Canlumacad, Santander town.

According to the Samboan Municipal Police Station, authorities received a call from a concerned citizen reporting the road accident.

Police immediately responded to the area but found that Trapa had already been taken to the Oslob District Hospital for medical treatment.

He was transported to the hospital by an ambulance from Santander. However, the attending physician later declared him dead on arrival.

Based on the initial police investigation, Trapa was traveling from Santander toward Samboan when his motorcycle crashed into the rear portion of a truck parked along the roadside in Barangay Colase.

Police said the truck had been parked in the area for several days and was undergoing repairs at the time of the incident.

Early warning devices had reportedly been placed near the truck to alert passing motorists of the parked vehicle.

The Samboan Municipal Police Station is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal road crash. (CEBU NEWS)
