LTO-7 to open more sites for payment of traffic fines

CEBU, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas (LTO-7) will open additional sites across the region where motorists can settle traffic fines and penalties amid a surge in apprehensions resulting from intensified road law enforcement.

LTO-7 said the increase in apprehensions has led to longer daily queues at its Operations Division office along N. Bacalso Avenue in Cebu City as motorists seek to settle their violations.

To address the congestion and make transactions more accessible, LTO-7 has procured additional desktop computers and laptops and will establish additional settlement sites in several district and registration offices.

These include the Danao City District Office, Liloan District Office, Consolacion District Office, Lapu-Lapu City District Office, Mandaue City District Office, and Talisay Registration Office.

LTO-7 also encouraged motorists to use the online settlement facility of the Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) Portal for fines and penalties arising from certain apprehensions.

LTO-7 said that online settlement is available for basic or simple violations, including certain violations involving the prescribed use of motorcycle helmets, seatbelts and other violations covered by the LTMS system.

Motorists were advised to check the official list of violations eligible for online settlement before proceeding with the transaction.

Meanwhile, LTO-7 will establish an Online Settlement Help Desk near the Operations Division office to assist motorists who need help with the online payment process.

The help desk will also assist the public with LTMS Portal concerns, including account access, usernames, and forgotten passwords.

LTO-7 Regional Director Wendel Dinglasan thanked the public for raising their concerns through the agency’s online platform and for helping LTO-7 improve its delivery of public services.

The additional settlement sites and online payment option are intended to reduce queues at the N. Bacalso Avenue office while providing motorists with faster and more convenient ways to settle their traffic violations. — (FREEMAN)
