Romualdez nasa kustodiya na ng BJMP

Mananatili muna sa ospital…

MANILA, Philippines — Pormal nang inilagay sa kustodiya ng Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) si dating House Speaker at Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin Romualdez matapos siyang i-turn over ng Philippine National Police -Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) kahapon.

Ayon sa BJMP, alas-4:15 ng hapon nang maiturn over sa kanila si Romualdez na itinuturing na ring persons deprived of liberty (PDL) at hindi bibigyan ng anumang VIP o espesyal na pribilehiyo.

Sinabi ng BJMP na susundin ang mga umiiral na patakaran sa panga­ngalaga at kustodiya sa mga nakakulong, anuman ang katayuan o posisyon ng isang indibidwal.

Nilinaw ng Sandiganbayan Third Division na mananatili muna si Romualdez sa Cardinal Santos Medical Center sa San Juan City hanggang sa maglabas ng panibagong kautusan ang korte.

Unang naglabas ng commitment order si Sandiganbayan Third Division chief Associate Justice Karl Miranda, kaugnay ng kasong plunder sa isinampa ng Office of the Ombudsman kay Romualdez, da­ting Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co, at dalawa pang iba kaugnay ng umano’y P7.44 bilyong kickback sa mga flood control projects ng pamahalaan.

“Pursuant to the court’s Resolution and Warrant of Arrest both dated September 7, 2026 and issued on even date, we hereby Commit to you the living person of Ferdinand Martin Gomez Romualdez who is charged in the aforesaid case for the crime of Plunder, to be held therein as a detention prisoner and as such, the accused shall not be moved, removed, transferred, and/or otherwise be released therefrom unless ordered by the court,”nakasaad sa kautusan na binasa ni Justice Miranda sa korte na may petsang September 10.

Ang commitment order ay inisyu ng Sandiganbayan Third Division at naka-address kay JSupt. Maria Pacion, Jail Warden ng Quezon City Jail - Male Dormitory.

Magugunita na noong Lunes nang ikustodiya si Romualdez ng PNP-CIDG matapos na ihain ang warrant of arrest laban sa kanya at isailalim siya sa booking procedures habang siya ay nasa hospital bed.

Na-confine ito sa nasabing ospital bunsod ng cardiovascular event, mataas na blood pressure at anxiety attack.
