Red rainfall warning still up over Metro Manila, other Luzon areas

MANILA, Philippines (Updated 5:53 p.m.) — A red rainfall warning remained in effect over Metro Manila and several areas in Luzon on Saturday evening, August 29, as the southwest monsoon or habagat continued to bring heavy rains over the region.

In its 5 p.m. advisory, state weather bureau PAGASA warned of serious flooding in flood-prone areas under the red warning level.

The following areas remained under the red warning level:

• Zambales
• Tarlac
• Pampanga
• Bataan
• Bulacan
• Metro Manila
• Rizal
• Cavite
• Batangas: Nasugbu, Lian, Tuy, Balayan and Calatagan

PAGASA said serious flooding is expected in flood-prone areas under the red warning level.

Meanwhile, flooding remained threatening in areas under the orange warning level, including:

• Nueva Ecija
• Laguna
• Batangas: Agoncillo, Alitagtag, Balete, Batangas City, Bauan, Calaca, Tanauan, Cuenca, Ibaan, Laurel, Lemery, Lipa, Mabini, Malvar, Mataasnakahoy, San Jose, San Luis, San Nicolas, San Pascual, Santa Teresita, Santo Tomas, Taal, Talisay and Tingloy

Possible flooding in flood-prone areas was also warned in locations under the yellow warning level, including:

• Quezon: San Antonio, Candelaria, Dolores, Sariaya, Tiaong, General Nakar, Tayabas, Infanta, Lucban, Lucena, Mauban, Pagbilao, Real, Sampaloc, Burdeos, Panukulan and Polillo
• Batangas: Rosario, Padre Garcia, San Juan, Taysan and Lobo

Meanwhile, light to moderate rains with occasional heavy rains were affecting parts of Quezon and may persist within the next three hours.

The affected areas are Agdangan, Alabat, Atimonan, Buenavista, Calauag, Catanauan, General Luna, Guinayangan, Gumaca, Lopez, Macalelon, Mulanay, Padre Burgos, Perez, Pitogo, Plaridel, Quezon, San Andres, San Francisco, San Narciso, Tagkawayan, Unisan, Patnanungan and Jomalig.
