Dasmariñas holds special election for Barzaga replacement

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Up to 373 police officers are securing a special election in Cavite today, to fill the congressional post vacated by ousted Dasmariñas congressman Kiko Bargaza.
Of the number of deployed officers, 94 are assigned at polling centers, 32 at checkpoints, 58 as mobile patrollers and 15 as police security escorts, Col. Ariel Red, Cavite police director, said.
Up to 100 augmentation forces from the Bureau of Fire Protection, Armed Forces of the Philippine, Philippine Coast Guard, city disaster risk reduction and management office, and volunteer force multipliers were tasked to manage traffic going to and from voting precincts.
Voting for senior citizens, pregnant women, and persons with disabilities and their companions will start at 5 a.m.
Regular voting hours for 447,387 registered voters will be from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
