Foxies press on sans Robins-Hardy

MANILA, Philippines —  Where is Alohi Robins-Hardy?

That was the question on everyone’s mind after the Filipino-American setter missed the PVL on Tour and was notably absent from the Farm Fresh Foxies roster for the Invitational Conference unfolding Monday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Foxies management has remained silent on the whereabouts of the 30-year-old, 6-foot-1 playmaker – an absence many believe could deal a big blow to their campaign.

Robins-Hardy proved her impact last April when she powered Farm Fresh to a breakthrough semifinal finish in the PVL All-Filipino Conference.

The Foxies eventually settled for fourth place after falling to the PLDT High Speed Hitters in the battle for third, but the finish still marked the franchise’s best performance since joining the league three years ago.

Without Robins-Hardy, Farm Fresh went 2-1 in the PVL on Tour, leaning on veteran setter Iris Tolenada who was tapped to backstop Louie Romero. Romero acquitted herself well in Robins-Hardy’s absence, though many felt the team could have done even better with their starting setter around.

For insurance, Farm Fresh has added a third setter in Ela Marjanna Raagas.

Still, the Foxies remain determined to build on their recent gains under champion Japanese coach Koji Tsuzurabara, fueled by the emergence of Trisha Tubu and the resurgence of veterans Ces Molina, Riri Meneses, Royse Tubino, Ara Galang, and Mylene Paat.
