MANILA, Philippines -- Brothers Carlos and Eldrew Yulo will train together in Japan with hopes of delivering the Philippines its breakthrough Asian Games gold medal.

“They will both be in a training camp in Tokushukai, then straight to the Asian Games,” Gymnastics Association of the Philippines president Cynthia Carrion told The STAR Saturday, referring to the talented gymnasts siblings.

Carrion said they will leave two weeks before next month’s Asian Games Games in Nagoya, Japan.

She did not mention though if the Yulos will train under Japanese Munehiro Kugimiya, Carlos' former coach and now Eldrew’s present mentor.

Artistic gymnastics is set September 21-25 at the Rainbow Hall of the Nippon Gaishi Hall.

The elder Yulo, of course, is the favorite to deliver that gold being an Olympic double-gold winner and many-time world champion, while the younger one could pull off a surprise or two.

There is a chance also that both Yulos could end up on a podium just like when Carlos struck gold and Eldrew copped bronze in the Asian Championships last June in Zunyi. China.

Carrion said Juancho Miguel Besana, Justine Ace de Leon and Zachary Nunez will also go to a camp in Japan but in a different place.

“Miguel, Ace and Nunez will be training in Sohgoh Gymnastics Club for early September and go straight to the Asian Games,” she said.
