Eala counts on Pinoy powerin Cincinnati

MANILA, Philippines — Like in every city she has been, Alex Eala is looking forward to another massive Filipino backing in Ohio for an added fuel in her final drive before the US Open later this month.
Eala is back in the United States after a Round of 16 finish in Toronto as she vies in the ongoing WTA1000 Cincinnati Open in Mason, Ohio, where a legion of her compatriots is expected to rally behind her once more.
She’s fine-tuning her bearings for the season’s final Grand Slam on Aug. 30 to Sept 13 in Flushing Meadows, New York. And Eala is just grateful for the support showered on her.
“It’s an amazing experience. It’s nice to see that the Filipino community is really showing up and enjoying tennis. Hopefully, it will help grow the sport as well and, in the end, give them something new and joyful experience,” said Eala, who’s still waiting for her Round 2 opponent.
