MANILA, Philippines — A 14-year-old student accused of murdering his classmate in Las Piñas has been transferred to a Bahay Pag-asa intervention center, police said on Monday.

Facing murder charges, the suspect stabbed his classmate on July 31 for failing to return P10 in change at the Las Piñas National High School.

Criminals aged 15 and below are exempt from liability, but are required to undergo intervention programs under the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act.

Classes at the school are suspended until Friday.

The suspect hid the knife in a tumbler to evade the school’s metal detector and body scanner, according to the Department of Education.
