Pinay spikers mapapalaban sa 2 foreign teams sa SSL Collegiate tourney

MANILA, Philippines — Masusukat ang kalibre ng mga pambato ng Pilipi­nas kontra sa dalawang tro­pang mula sa Australia at Vietnam sa 2026 Shakey’s Super League (SSL) Collegiate National Invitationals bukas sa Ninoy Aquino Stadium sa Maynila.

Sa unang pagkakataon ay magpaparada ng overseas squads ang Shakey’s sa katauhan ng Ho Chi Minh City Volleyball Club ng Vietnam at Southern Storm Melbourne ng Aus­tra­lia na siniguro ang ka­han­daang hamunin ang reigning NCAA champion Letran, dating four-peat tit­list St. Benilde, Enderun Colleges at UST.

“Our team will try our best and see how far we’ll be able to go in the tournament. We just want to de­monstrate our best,” wika ni Ho Chi Minh Volley­ball Club coach Huinn Do Hong Loan.

“We want to experience a different flavor of volley­ball here in the Philippines. We expect the style to be different in what we play and I think we are it,” dagdag naman ni Southern Storm Melbourne head coach Carlo Pacioni.

Kasunod ang collegiate division ng idinaraos din na Juniors National Invitationals kung saan kalahok naman ang Pacific Volleyball Academy ng Guam at Perfect Set Dream Makers ng California, USA.

Bahagi ito ng misyon ng Shakey’s at ng ACES na maitaguyod pa ang Phi­lippine volleyball buhat nang ilunsad ang Shakey’s V-League dalawang dekada na ang nakalilipas.

Dadaan sa single-round robin elimis ang anim na ko­ponan at ang top four ay aaabante sa se­mifinals at championship round na parehong knockout format.
