AppleOne Medical strengthens regional footprint

CEBU, Philippines — AppleOne Medical Group (AMG) is expanding its footprint in the Philippines’ fast-growing regional healthcare market with the opening of a specialized heart institute in Davao City, as the Cebu-based conglomerate positions itself to capture rising demand for high-end medical services beyond Metro Manila.
The newly launched Brokenshire Medical Center (BMC) Heart Institute expands access to comprehensive cardiac care in Mindanao, strengthening AppleOne Group’s strategy of building an integrated healthcare network across the Visayas and Mindanao (VisMin) region.
The facility offers a full range of cardiovascular services, from preventive screening and non-invasive diagnostics to complex interventional procedures such as coronary angiography, angioplasty and coronary stenting, alongside cardiac rehabilitation and long-term disease management.
The institute is positioned as a regional referral center serving patients from Davao City, Northern Mindanao, Western Mindanao, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), and neighboring provinces.
“The goal has always been to elevate the standard of living in Visayas and Mindanao through the places we build, the experiences we offer, and now through the care we deliver,” said AppleOne Medical Group President and Chief Executive Officer Ray Go Manigsaca.
The opening marks the latest expansion of AppleOne’s healthcare business, which the company established in 2020 at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic as part of a broader diversification strategy beyond property development.
AMG currently operates three hospitals in the VisMin region: Brokenshire Medical Center in Davao, VisayasMed Hospital in Cebu and United Shalom Hospital in Tacloban.
The group plans to grow through a hub-and-spoke model by establishing satellite healthcare facilities within a 50-kilometer radius of each flagship hospital to widen access to specialized medical services.
The Heart Institute also introduces a dedicated Heart Care Coordinator system designed to streamline patient care from initial consultation through treatment, discharge and follow-up, reflecting a growing focus among private hospital operators on integrated care delivery.
Founded in 1917, Brokenshire Medical Center is a 200-bed Level 3 private training hospital managed by AppleOne Medical Group. The hospital also houses Mindanao’s first hospital-based multidisciplinary center for children with special needs and the region’s only in-vitro fertilization laboratory, reflecting the group’s strategy of expanding specialized healthcare services outside the capital.
The investment comes as private healthcare providers increasingly channel capital into regional markets, where rising incomes, population growth and limited access to highly specialized medical services are driving demand for modern healthcare infrastructure.
