Cop in viral gun-toting video facing dismissal

MANILA, Philippines — For putting the Philippine National Police in a bad light, a PNP officer is facing dismissal from the service after he allegedly threatened to shoot a civilian in Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte.
Video footage posted on social media showed Cpl. Henry Boquida pointing a gun at a civilian on the night of June 21.
Boquida was reportedly drunk during the incident that occurred at around 8:30 p.m. in front of a store in Barangay Antipolo.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. has ordered the conduct of summary dismissal proceedings against Boquida, who was relieved from his post at the Sapang Dalaga police station in Misamis Occidental following the incident.
Nartatez said he wanted the criminal and administrative proceedings sped up, noting that officers like Boquida have no place in the police force.
“We are not just looking at suspension. We are pursuing the full strength of administrative accountability,” Nartatez said.
