Bilateral maritime activity ng AFP at US Indo-Pacific Command sa West Philipine Sea, tagumpay

MANILA, Philippines — Matagumpay ang idinaos na bilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity (MCA) ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) at ng United States Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM) sa West Philipine Sea (WPS), ayon sa opisyal kahapon.

Ayon sa AFP ang nasabing maritime exercises ay isinagawa mula Hunyo 14-19 na ikaapat na Philippines-US MCA sa taong ito.

Sa nasabing pagsasanay ay itinampok ang naval, air, and marine assets ng Pilipinas na kinabibilangan ng BRP Diego Silang (FFG-07),  AW109 helicopter, FA-50 fighter aircraft,  C-208B aircraft, at Sokol helicopters. Ang  Philippine Coast Guard ay nag-deploy naman ng BRP Melchora Aquino (MRRV-9702) at BRP Sindangan (MRRV-4407).

Ang USINDOPACOM ay ibinandera naman ang kanilang USCGC Charles Moulthrope (WPC-1141), USCGC Emlen Tunnell (WPC-1145), P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft at mga personnel ng 3rd Marine Littoral Regiment.

Nabatid na sa anim na araw na maritime activity ang magkaalyadong puwersa ay nagsagawa ng serye ng maritime interoperability exercises tulad ng Search and Rescue (SAR), Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS), Communication Exercises (COMMEX), Division Tactics/Officer ng Watch (DIVTACS/OOW) maneuvers, Photo Exercise (PHOTEX )Joint Fires Rehearsal.

“The successful conduct of the MCA highlights the enduring commitment of the Philippines and the United States to strengthen maritime cooperation, enhance maritime domain awareness, and reaffirm support for a rules-based international order in the Indo-Pacific region”, ayon pa sa AFP.

Samantala, inihayag ng Philippine Navy na ang guided-missile frigate nito, ang BRP Miguel Malvar (FFG-06) at iba pang mga barko ay nakilahok naman kasama ang iba pang mga bansa sa  biennial Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercises na tagumpay na naisagawang air defense exercises nitong Hunyo 18 habang patungo sa Hawaii.

Nabatid pa na bukod sa BRP Miguel Malvar ay nagpartisipa rin sa naturang exercises ang Republic of Singapore Navy frigate RSS Steadfast (RSS-70), ang Italian Navy multipurpose surface comba­tant ITS Giovanni delle Bande Nere (P-434) at ang Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force destroyer JS Kongo (DDG-173). Ang RIMPAC exercises ay isasagawa mula Hunyo 24 hanggang Hulyo 31.
