SC suspends lawyer for cursing

MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court (SC) has suspended for one year lawyer Jesus Nicardo Falcis III over his use of profanities on social media, stemming from complaints filed against his brother by Kris Aquino.
In 2018, Falcis criticized Aquino’s fans for their silence after she allegedly threatened his brother.
Describing them as “biased na dilawan,” Falcis posted on X: “Pakyu kayo mga gago haha check your cognitive biases.”
Aquino had filed multiple charges, including fraud, against Nicko Falcis for allegedly spending P63,000 using a credit card entrusted to him as managing director of her production firm without her approval.
Nicko was arrested upon his return from Thailand in 2019.
Falcis’ demeaning social media post made him guilty of simple misconduct, according to SC Associate Justice Jhosep Lopez.
Falcis said he accepted the SC ruling.
But he stressed: “If a lawyer like me can be suspended for cursing, then Vice President Sara Duterte should also be answerable not just for cursing, but for threatening President Marcos and the First Lady.”
