MANILA, Philippines — Wala pang impormasyon ang Department of Justice (DOJ) sa sinasabing warrants of arrest na ilalabas ng International Criminal Court (ICC) laban kay dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte at iba pang respondent na sangkot sa isinasagawang imbestigasyon sa war on drugs ng nakaraang administrasyon.

Una nang sinabi ni retired Supreme Court Justice Antonio Carpio na maaring sa buwan ng Setyembre ngayong taon ay mag-isyu na ng arrest warrant ang ICC, sa naging panayam sa isang vlog ng isang political analyst

“We are not aware of that. None of our government agencies have been informed about anything,” ani Vasquez.

Una na ring ipinahayag ng DOJ na hindi tutulong sa ICC sa pagsisiyasat nito sa drug war bagamat hindi naman pipigilan na makipag-ugnayan sa mga personalidad na maaaring gusto nitong makapanayam.

“The last action taken by the ICC was to request diplomatic permission from the DFA to conduct interviews, but this was ignored because we are no longer under their jurisdiction,” paliwanag ni Vasquez.

Sinabi pa ni Vasquez na hindi na nila saklaw at hindi inaalam kung patungo sa bansa o narito na ang ICC para mag-imbestiga.

Nilinaw na rin ni Vasquez na kahit umatras na ang Pilipinas sa pagiging miyembro ng ICC noong 2019, may obligasyon pa rin naman ang bansa sa International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).

“And we have to understand Interpol processes – it is not an international police enforcement body. It is one that is composed of the different states whose law enforcement agencies cooperate and coordinate and share information and data with the idea of jointly and effectively combatting transnational crimes – terrorism, terrorism financing, et cetera,” aniya.

Maingat ding pag-aaralan sakaling may ipalabas na red notice o kahilingan ng pag-aresto ng Interpol.

“Kung sinuman ang aarestuhin, kung aarestuhin man at kung gagawin mang aresto iyan, ayon sa batas natin – iyan po ay aaralin, susuriin nang mainam kasi ang daming nuances po iyan eh. Mayroon din constitutional decision, it’s a decision ng Supreme Court,” paliwanag pa niya.
