Marcos Jr. agree na 'may pang-aabuso' sa ilalim ng Duterte 'drug war'
MANILA, Philippines — Hindi ikinaila ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na nagkaroon ng mga pang-aabuso ng karapatang pantao sa pagpapatupad ng "gera kontra droga" ng nakaraang administrasyon — bagay na idinulot daw ng pag-focus nito sa enforcement.
Ganito ang ipinahayag ni Bongbong sa panayam ng Center for Strategic & International Studies nitong Biyernes (oras sa Pilipinas) habang siya'y nasa Estados Unidos, matapos matanong patungkol sa human rights situation ng Pilipinas.
"I think those derived, most of the discussion that are critical of the human rights situation of the Philippines derrived from the policy that we undertook to fight the drug war. In my view, what had happened in the previous administration was that we focused much on the enforcement," wika ni Marcos Jr. kanina.
"Because of that, it could be said that there were abuses by certain elements in the government. And that has caused some concern with many quarters with the human rights situation in the Philippines."
Sa opisyal na datos ng gobyerno, umabot sa 6,252 ang namatay sa kampanya kontra-droga mula Hulyo 2016 hanggang Mayo 2022.
Ang ilan sa mga napatay ay napatunayan sa korte na inosente o tinaniman ng ebidensya ng mga pulis, gaya na lang sa kaso ng mga teenagers na sina Kian delos Santos, Carl Angelo Arnaiz at Reynaldo "Kulot" De Guzman noong 2017.
Inilalagay 'yan ng human rights advocates sa mas mataas na bilang na 30,000 lalo na't marami raw sa mga pagpatay ay ginagawa hindi sa lehitimong operasyon ng gobyerno. Ang ilan aniya, sapamamagitan ng mga vigilante groups.
"Some of our law enforcement officers have been sucked into this terrible system that have enriched themselves at the cost of the lives of many, especially the young people," dagdag pa ni Marcos.
"[T]hat is why I organized a commission and I asked for the resignation of all the policemen, police officers from colonel level [and] up. We have recieved about 917 resignations and we are now in the process of looking through the records of these officers to see those that have had derrogatory comments, those that have evidence against them."
Sa ngayon, dalawang high-ranking generals na ang nasipa mismo sa serbisyo. Meron pa rin daw 30 kasong iniimbestigahan administratively na siyang magpapatuloy.
Agad naman daw nilang ide-develop ang mga kaso laban sa mga nabanggit oras na makahanap ng anumang ebidensyang magkakabit sa kanila sa mga naturang aktibidad.
Imbis na mahigpit na pagpaparusa sa lahat, pinapalitan daw ngayon ng administrasyon ang focus nito patungo sa pagdurog sa mga malalaking sindikato at pagre-rehabilitate ng mga gumagamit ng droga.
Ipinagpapatuloy ngayon ng International Criminal Court ang imbestigasyon sa "crimes against humanity" pagdating sa human rights violations kaugnay ng drug war, karamihan dito noong panahon ni Duterte.
Inaamin ni Marcos Jr. ang mga pag-abuso sa ilalim ni Digong kahit na tutol naman siya sa imbestigasyon ng ICC, na siyang tinawag pa niyang "banta sa soberanya."
Running-mate ni Marcos noong 2022 elections si Bise Presidente Sara Duterte-Carpio, na siyang anak ni Digong.
