Gov't employees 'half day' sa Miyerkules Santo para malubos-lubos Holy Week

MANILA, Philippines — Inanunsyo ng Malacañang ang suspensyon ng pasok para sa mga empleyado ng gobyerno pagsapit ng tanghali ng darating na Miyerkules Santo, ika-5 ng Abril, upang mabigyan ng pagkakataon ang mga nabanggit na malubos-lubos ang Semana Santa't makapagbiyahe sa probinsya.

Sa Memorandum Circular 16 na nilagdaan ni Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin sa ngalan ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. nitong Biyernes, sinabing puputulin ang pasok ng mga nabanggit para mapakinabangan nang husto ang paparating na Huwebes at Biyernes Santo.

"To provide government employees full opportunity to properly observe 06-07 April 2023, regular holidays, and to allow them to travel to and from the different regions in the country, work in government offices on 05 April 2023 is hereby suspended from 12:00 o'clock in the afternoon onwards," wika ng memo.

"However, those agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disastrers and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue with their operaations and render the necessary services."

Bagama't regular holiday at bayad pa rin 100% ang mga manggagawa tuwing Maundy Thursday at Good Friday, may pasok pa rin para sa karamihan ang Holy Wednesday. Ibig sabihin, kakaltasan ka na ng sahod kung hindi ka papasok sa araw na ito.

Special non-working holiday naman ang Sabado de Gloria, dahilan para maging "no work, no pay" ito sa mga hindi sisipot sa trabaho. Sa kabila nito, ang mga papasok sa araw na ito ay babayaran ng dagdag na 30% ng kanyang basic wage sa unang walong oras.

"The suspension of work in private companies and offices is left to the sound discretion of their respective employers," patuloy pa ng kautusan.

"This Circular shall take effect immediately."

Kanina lang nang sabihin ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority na papayagan nilang dumaan sa kahabaan ng EDSA ang provincial buses dahil sa inaasahang pagdagsa ng mga pasahero ngayong Lenten season pauwi ng probinsya.
