'Pagbawi sa demokrasya': Duterte idiniin halaga ng #EDSA36, People Power sa Pilipinas
MANILA, Philippines — Inalala ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang importansya ng ika-36 na anibersaryo ng EDSA People Power na nagpatalsik sa diktadurang Ferdinand Marcos Sr. noong 1986 — kahit kumakandidato sa pagkabise presidente ni Bongbong Marcos ang kanyang anak na babae sa 2022 elections.
Tinatayang 2 milyon ang nagmartsa, karamihan sa kahabaan ng Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA), noong ika-22 hanggang ika-25 ng Pebrero taong 1986, bagay na tumapos sa higit 20 taong pamumuno ni Macoy.
"It has been 36 years, but the events of the People Power Revolution remain vivid in our memory, when millions of Filipinos gathered at EDSA to reclaim our nation's democracy," wika ni Digong sa isang pahayag, Biyernes.
"This celebration serves as a strong reminder that with unity, cooperation and faith, there is nothing that we cannot collectively achieve for the greater good of our country."

Binabanggit ito ni Duterte kahit na nagdeklara rin siya, gaya ni Marcos, ng ilang taong martial law sa Mindanao. Dati na rin niyang sinabing "very good" ang Batas Militar ng diktador at pumayag pa na mapalibing si Marcos sa Libingan ng mga Bayani.
Kumakandidato bilang bise presidente ni dating Sen. Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. ang anak ni Duterte na si Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
Ang lahat ng ito ay kahit na anti-Marcos activist ang ina ni Duterte na si Soledad. Miyembro rin si Digong na partidong PDP-Laban, na itinayo originally laban kay Marcos.
"As we honor the courage and solidarity of those who have come before us and fought to uphold our demoracy, let us also honor and thank those who continue to keep alive the legacy of this largely peceful and non-violent revolution," dagdag pa ng presidente.
"Let us emulate [the] heroism, selflessness and compassion [of public servants, community volunteers, medical and essential frontliners during this COVID-19 pandemic] as we strive to recover from our present challenges and march foward to a better Philippines for all."

Matatandaang ilang taon nang hindi pinupuntahan ni Duterte ang kahit na anong pagtitipon kaugnay ng EDSA People Power commemoration.
