Pag-disqualify sa party-list ng mga manggagawa pinalagan

MANILA, Philippines — Kinundena ng Manggagawa party-list ang desisyon ng Commission on Elections na i-disqualify sila mula sa paparating na eleksyong 2019.

Ayon sa partido, walang batayan ang naging desisyon ng en banc ng Comelec noong Disyembre.

"We have complied with all the necessary requirements and are certain that we have met the qualifications for candidacy," ayon sa kanilang pahayag sa Facebook.

Ayon kasi sa Comelec, bigo ang grupo na patunayang hindi sila nakakukuha ng pondo mula sa gobyerno, dayuhang pamahalaan at organisasyon.

"We are proudly funded by our members and supporters who come from the ranks of the working class – industrial workers, informal workers, public transportation workers, call center agents, and migrant Filipinos and their families," dagdag nila.

Ang desisyon ay pagkakait diumano sa mga obrero ng tunay at progresibong na boses sa loob ng Kamara.

"MANGGAGAWA Partylist wants to raise workers’ wages. We want to truly end contractualization and ensure the job security of workers and employees. We are fighting for genuine land reform and national industrialization," sabi ng grupo.

Ang Manggagawa ay suportado ng mga militanteng grupo tulad ng Kilusang Mayo Uno, Migrante, at Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (KADAMAY).

Pagpapatahimik sa mga kritiko?

Ayon sa party-list, maniobra raw ito ng gobyerno para sikilin ang mga kritiko ng administrasyon.

"We know that our disqualification is part of the Duterte administration’s plan to stifle dissent and silence the opposition and those that are critical of its anti-people programs and policies," sabi nila.

Nakakuha rin ng kakampi ang party-list mula sa grupong Defend Job Philippines at inudyok ang Comelec na hayaang tumakbo ang grupo.

Sinuportahan din ang ng kanilang Hong Kong chapter ang nominasyon ng grupo.

Ayon sa tagapagsalita ng Manggagawa party-list Hong Kong na si Vicky Casia-Cabantac, hindi ang mga lehitimong marginalized groups ang dapat tinatarget ng Comelec.

“There are numerous Comelec-accredited dubious and fake partylist organisations whose nominees came from clans of traditional politicians, landlord families and big businesses misrepresenting the poor and marginalized groups in the Philippines. They are the ones that should be delisted from the partylist election and not the legitimate partylist of the poor and unrepresented Filipino workers,” ayon kay Cabantac.

Nabuo ang party-list system para mailuklok sa House of Represenatives ang mga "marginalized" o mga sektor na napapabayaan.

Ayon sa Section 5 ng Republic Act 7941, maaaring tumakbo para sa posisyon ang mga manggagawa, magsasaka, mangingisda, urban poor, katutubo, nakatatanda, may kapansanan, kababaihan, kabataan, mga beterano, overseas workers at mga propesyunal.

Hindi naman sumusuko ang partido at gagawa pa rin daw ng paraan upang makatakbo sa Mayo 2019.
