Federalism ayaw ng Pinoy - Pulse Asia

MANILA, Philippines — Tutol ang mayorya ng mga Filipino sa pagpapalit ng gobyerno sa Federal system batay sa pinakahuling survey ng Pulse Asia.

Sa isinagawang survey mula June 15-21 sa may 1,800 respondents, lumitaw na 62 percent ang ayaw sa panukalang Federalism at halos ganito rin ang resulta ng survey noong March.

Tinutulan din ng may  67 percent na Filipino ang pagpapalit sa 1987 Constitution.

Nasa 37% ang ayaw na palitan ang Konstitusyon habang 30% naman ang ayaw palitan ito sa ngayon pero baka pumayag amyendahan ito sa hinaharap.

Ang pumapayag naman sa Charter Change ay nasa 18 percent habang 14% ang undecided.

“Public opinion on this issue is virtually the same in March and June 2018,” wika pa ng Pulse Asia.

Nasa 74 percent ng mga Filipino ay may kaunti ng kaalaman o walang kaalaman sa kasaluku­yang Konstitusyon habang 55 percent ang batid ang panukalang palitan ang Saligang Batas.

Isinagawa ang survey ilang araw bago isumite ng Constitutional Committee (ConCom) kay Pangulong Duterte ang draft ng federal charter na hawak na rin ng Senado at Kamara. 

Samantala, aminado naman ang Malacañang na ibayong kampanya pa ang kailangan upang maunawaan ng taumbayan ang Pederalismo.

“We would like to point out that only 55% of res­pondents have heard, read, or watched anything about the propo­sals to change the 1987 Constitution before the survey was conducted or only during the time the survey was held. Also, 69% of respondents admitted little awareness of the proposed federal system of government. For this reason, we cannot expect our people to support an initiative, which they know only little about. There is clearly much work to be done in terms of spreading awareness and knowledge on the aforementioned issue. We will therefore exert even more effort to inform and educate our citizens about federalism since the approval of the proposed changes in our current Charter ultimately lies in the hands of the Filipino people,” ayon kay Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque.
