Hontiveros napikon sa komento ni Digong sa condom

MANILA, Philippines – Hindi ikinatuwa ni Sen. Risa Hontiveros ang pahayag ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ukol sa family planning na huwag gumamit ng condom ang mga lalaki.

Sinabi ni Hontiveros na malaki ang epekto ng pahayag ni Duterte sa pangkalusugan ng publiko.

"President Duterte should stop making thoughtless, reckless and irresponsible statements at the expense of public health," ani ng senador na chairperson ng Senate Committee on Women, Children, family Relations, and Gender Equality.

Pagkauwi galing Kuwait, sinabi ni Duterte na libre naman ang mga pills para sa mga babae kaya’t huwag nang gumamit ng condom dahil aniya’y “hindi masarap.”

Dahil dito ay naalarma si Hontiveros lalo na’t mataas ang kaso ng HIV at teen pregnancy sa bansa na dulot ng unprotected sex.

"Hindi masarap kapag may condom? President Duterte seems to be overly concerned with pleasure. By disapproving of condoms as a safe and reliable form of contraception, the President is denying the public the widest array of options to plan their families, protect themselves from sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and curb the growing number of teenage pregnancies," ani Hontiveros.

Bukod sa epekto ng hindi paggamit ng condom, pinuna rin ni Hontiveros ang tila pagpapasa ng responsibilidad sa mga kababaihan upang masunod ang family planning.

"The President's statement is a virtual insistence that women should continue to carry the burden of family planning alone. Men must also do their share and be at par with women in sharing our family planning duty," patuloy ng senadora.

Pinaaalala ni Hontiveros na ang bawat salitang lumalabas sa bibig ng pangulo ay mahalaga dahil siya ang pinuno ng bansa.

"He wants us take him seriously but not literally. What does that even mean? Who interprets him best? So sino mag-aadjust, ang 100 milyong mamamayan ng Pilipinas o siya?” sabi ni Hontiveros.

“He is expected to make intelligible public statements that promote progressive policy-making and positive behavioral change, especially those concerning public health," dagdag niya.
