Teenage pregnancy pigilan, RH Law ipatupad na!
MANILA, Philippines – Nanawagan ang mga sumusuporta sa kontrobersyal na Reproductive Health Law sa Korte Suprema na ipatupad na ang batas sa muling pagpupulong ng mga mahistrado sa Abril 8 sa Baguio City.
Sinabi ng grupong Purple Ribbon for RH Movement na nakaaalarma na ang teenage pregnancy o pagbubuntis ng mga menor de edad.
Tinukoy ng grupo ang pag-aaral ng National Statistics Office (NSO) kung saan noong 2010 ay 570 kababaihang na may edad 19 pababa ang nanganganak araw-araw.
Dagdag nila na maaaring tumaas pa ang bilang nito noong 2011 hanggang 2013.
"The RH Law mandates a set of measures to lessen teen pregnancies : age-appropriate sexuality education; voluntary family planning services for teen parents and minors with parental consent; and life-saving skilled birth attendance and emergency obstetric care," pahayag ng grupo.
"We urge the Supreme Court to see the RH Law as it truly is: a social justice program that, among others, gives poor teenagers a better chance in life before they become parents...Please declare the RH Law constitutional," dagdag nila.
Samantala, ganito rin ang panawagan ng National Youth Commission.
Sinabi ng NYC na mula nang maglabas ng status quo ante order ang mataas na hukuman ay mga kabataan ang naaapektuhan araw-araw.
"The Philippines has the highest rate of increase in teen pregnancy. What is more alarming is while the country is registering a spike in incidence, the rates of teenage pregnancy in other countries in the region are actually declining."
