BOC chief hinamon ng agri producers

MANILA, Philippines - Hinamon ng agricultural producers si Customs Commissioner Ruffy Biazon na magbitiw na lamang sa kanyang tungkulin kung hindi nito kayang lutasin ang agri-products smuggling sa bansa.

Nakiisa ang mga lider sa agricultural at fishery sector sa hog at chicken raisers sa bansa upang hilingin kay Pangulong Aquino na lansagin ang umiiral na smuggling syndicate na lubhang nakakaapekto sa kanilang hanay.

“We do not want to come to that point, but the continued inaction lead us to the strong possibility of a market holiday to dramatize our point against the continued smuggling of foodstuffs which are threatening the local agricultural producers,” ayon kay Abono chairman at Swine Development Council director Rosendo So.

“This used to be an issue of the pork and chicken producers only but it has become clear that it is the entire agricultural sector is affected. The smuggling situation has become worse,” wika naman ni Agap Party-list Rep. Nicanor Briones.
