“In short, the 2% cut would serve as temporary government subsidy to provide relief to our people each time fuel prices becomes too steep. This is a win-win solution in the light of increasing calls to either cut or reduce the VAT which I think will do more harm than good if it is done across-the-board and on a permanent basis,” ani Haresco.
“The interplay of market forces has become illusory and what we see is the emergence of an oligopoly of three large oil companies that keep on dictating without mercy and increasing the prices of petroleum products,” ani Castelo. “Even the presence of small but independent oil companies has not given the much anticipated stability to the prices of domestic petroleum products.”
