1st Pinoy-made cargo vessel 'bibinyagan'

MANILA, Philippines - Ibabandera na ang kauna-unang Pinoy-made cargo vessel ng Philippine Navy at Landing Craft Utility (LCU) kung saan magsisilbing ninang pa ang dalawang presidential sister sa pasinaya nito sa darating na Disyembre 14.

Kasabay na rin ng gaganaping seremonya sa Pier 13 ng Manila South Harbor ang pagbibigay ng bagong pangalan sa Presidential yatch na BRP PAGASA na magiging ‘Ang Pangulo’ at ito ay magiging ‘floating Malacañang.’

Ayon kay Navy Spokesman Lt. Col. Omar Tonsay, si Pangulong Aquino ang magsisilbing panauhing pandangal sa nasabing ‘commissioning ceremony’ na dadaluhan din nina Navy Chief Rear Admiral Alexander Pama gayundin ang iba pang top officials ng AFP at Department of National Defense.

Samantala ang dalawang Presidential sister na sina Elena “Ballsy” Aquino Cruz at Victoria Elisa “Viel” Aquino Dee ang magsisilbing ninang ng naturang mga barko at landing craft utility na ipiprisinta sa nasabing okasyon ng mga opisyal ng AFP at Defense kay PNoy kung saan magkakaroon ng “christening” at “champagne breaking”.

Ang BRP Gregorio del Pilar (PF 15) ay nabili mula sa US Coast Guard na ide-deploy sa West Philippines Sea matapos itong dumating sa Manila Bay noong Agosto 23, 2011 habang ang LCU naman ay kauna-una­hang barkong gawa sa Pilipinas. Ang pinakama­laking cargo vessel na gawang Pinoy ay tatawagin namang BRP Tagbanua (AT296).
