SMI tumanggap ng presidential award
MANILA, Philippines - Tinanggap ng Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI) ang ikaapat na Presidential Mining Industry Environmental Award (PMIEA) sa 58th Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference na ginanap sa Baguio City kamakailan.
Ito ang ikatlong sunod na taon na pinagkalooban ng PMIEA ang SMI matapos kilalanin noong 2009 at 2010. Unang nagtamo ng Presidential citation ang SMI noong taong 2006.
“We are particularly happy that our responsible actions, ethical behavior and commitment to corporate social responsibility continue to be recognized through the years,” wika ni SMI General Manager for Operations and External Relations Mark Williams.
Binigyan ang SMI ng overall rating na 96% para sa Social Development and Management Program (SDMP), Information, Education, Communication (IEC), Environmental Management at Safety and Health programs.
Ang inisyatibang Maleh Tu Kayo (Blaan para sa ‘magtanim tayo ng mga puno’) ng SMI ay idineklara namang 2nd Runner-Up sa Best Mining Forestry Program (exploration category) mula sa Department of Environment and Natural Resources sanhi ng reforestration programa nito mula noong 2005 na nakapagbigay at nakapagtanim ng mahigit 600,000 binhi ng mga puno.
