Ex-Pagcor chief, kinasuhan ng mga atleta sa Ombudsman

MANILA, Philippines - Kinasuhan ng mga atleta, coaches at sports enthusiats sa tangga­pan ng Ombudsman ng mo­ney laundering at graft charges si dating Philippine Gaming and Amusement Corporation chief Efraim Genuino at iba pang sports officials dahilan sa umanoy kuwestyonableng paglustay sa  P30 milyong pondo ng pamahalaan  noong 2008.

Ayon kay Atty. Harry Roque, ang mga respondents ay sina Mark Joseph, dating Pangulo ng  Philippine Amateur Swimming Association Inc., William Ramirez dating  chairman ng Philippine Sports Commission at dating Pagcor officers Rafael Francisco, Philip Lo, Danilo Gozo, Manuel Roxas, Ester  Hernandez, Valente Custodio at Edward King.

Sa 14 pahinang  joint complaint-affidavit, batay sa  2008 audit report na si Ramirez ay nag otorisa na maglabas ng pondo sa Joseph’s swimming association ng walang permiso mula sa board ng Phil Sports Commission.

“This is shameless. Chairman Genuino did not even spare the money, which was supposed to be for the development of our athletes,”  pahayag ni Atty Roque.

Ang mga kinasuhan ay lumabag umano sa  PSC Charter, Pagcor dahil sa direktahang pag disburse ng pondo ni Joseph.

Sinasabing ang bahagi ng naturang pondo ay nalustay sa hindi malamang bagay at ginamit para sa maintenance ng private facilities sa Trace Aquatic Center at iba pang bayarin sa  Trace College na pag aari ng pamilyang Genuino.
