'Colorum' jeepneys, FX at AUV sunod na puntirya ng MMDA

MANILA, Philippines - Pagkatapos ng “colorum” na public utility buses, sunod na puntirya ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) ang “colorum” at out-of-line public utility jeepneys, FX at Asian Utility Vehicles (AUV) bilang bahagi ng pinatin­ding kampanya ng ahensiya laban sa illegal na public utility vehicles na bumibiyahe sa mga lansangan ng kamaynilaan.

Sinabi ni MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino, gagawin ang crackdown matapos burahin ng ahensiya ang mga colorum bus sa Metro Manila, sa tulong ng Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

“After we stop colorum public buses, next on our list are the colorum jeepneys, FX and AUV,” wika ni Tolentino, na idinagdag pa na nagtakda ang MMDA na Oct. 31 bilang deadline para sa colorum buses na sumuko.

“We would also coordinate with the local government units in our campaign,” wika pa ni Tolentino.

Bago rito, pumirma ng kasunduan ang MMDA sa LTFRB upang linisin ang malalaking kalsada, partikular ang Epifanio De Los Santos Avenue (EDSA), sa mga colorum na bus.

Tinatayang nasa 5,000 Metro Manila buses at 7,000 provincial buses ang dumadaan sa EDSA at iba pang malalaking kalsada. Target ng dalawang ahensiya na makainspeksiyon ng 1,000 bus kada araw.

Sa 5,000 Metro buses, sinabi ni Tolentino na 3,500 ay may balidong prangkisa habang ang natitira’y colorum at out-of-lines.

“Under the set-up, Metro Manila and provincial buses using EDSA will have their plate number and chassis stenciled so that authorities will have an easy time checking if they have valid franchise to operate,” wika ni Tolentino.

Ang mga lalabag ay mahaharap sa suspensiyon o kanselasyon ng permit.
