2 pistachio galing US pinababawi ng BFAD

MANILA, Philippines - Bunga na rin ng pa­ngamba na kontamina­do ng salmonella, pi­na­ba­bawi ng Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD) sa loob ng 24 oras ang dalawang pistachio pro­ducts na mula sa Esta­dos Unidos.

Lumilitaw sa Advisory 2009-004 ng BFAD, kaila­ngan na i-recall ang pro­dukto ng Setton Farms Premium California Roas­ted Salted Pistachios na ina­angkat ng Duty Free Philippines at ang Setton Farms Roasted Salted Pistachios na ini-import naman ng Andalucia Tra­ding Co. Inc..

“The BFAD has directed the above-named importers to immediately withdraw or cause the withdrawal within 24 hours from today of the above products from all market shelves,” naka­saad pa sa advisory na nilagdaan ni BFAD Director Leticia Gutierrez.

Ayon sa BFAD, ang advisory ay ipinalabas kasu­nod na rin ng isi­nagawang imbestigasyon ng US Food and Drug Administration sa salmonella contamination sa pistachio products na pro­dukto ng Setton Pistachio ng Terra Bella Inc. California at sa boluntar­yong pag­bawi nito sa kanilang processed pistachio products.

Matatandaang una nang ipinagbawal ng BFAD at ng Department of Health (DOH) ang pagtigil sa pag-aangkat ng pistachio products mula sa US matapos na pumutok ang isyu hinggil sa salmonella na posi­bleng taglay ng pistachio nuts. (Doris Franche)
