Barias namumuro sa graft

Maaaring makasuhan ng graft sa Ombudsman si Philippine National Police Director Geary Barias at iba pang opisyal ng PNP na kasama niya sa 11 araw na biyahe sa Mu­nich, Germany noong Ok­tubre.

Ayon kay Manila Congressman Bienvenido Abante sa isang pahayag, ang naturang biyahe nina Barias ay hindi dapat binalikat ng mga supplier o ibang private entities na nasa negosyo.

Sabi ni Abante, taga­pangulo ng public information committee ng House of Representatives, dapat malaman kung awtorisado ng Department of Interior and Local Government ang naturang biyahe sa Germany at saan nanggaling ang perang ginamit dito.

Idinagdag ng mamba­batas na maaaring ka­suhan sa Ombudsman sina Barias kung ang perang ginamit ng mga ito sa biyahe ay sinagot ng pribadong tao na may transaksyon sa PNP.

Bumisita ang grupo ni Barias sa Munich para makilahok sa inspection and observation tour ng pasilidad ng Rohde and Schwarz, isang electronics company. 

SInasabing ang Rohde and Schwarz ang sumagot sa lahat ng gastos sa biyahe kabilang na ang “international airfare, meals, and accommodation.”

“Unless the conference Barias et al will attend involves national security which I doubt it does — the travel should be made open to public, particularly in light of the Moscow trip scandal,” pahayag naman ni Bayan Muna Rep. Satur Ocam­po.   

“The trip to Munich should not have pushed through because the PNP is still “reeling from the Euro Generals,” sabi na­man ni Ruel Pascual, chairman ng Movement for Clean Governance, isang anti-corruption watchdog.
