Posisyon ng Navy Chief sinusulot

Naudlot umano dahil sa pulitika ang itinakdang turnover ceremony kahapon sa Philippine Navy dahilan sinusulot umano ng isa sa mga contender na may hawak ng kontrobersyal na Hello Garci tape ang posisyon.

Ito ang nabatid kahapon mula sa ilang matataas na opisyal ng militar matapos hindi matuloy ang itinakdang pagsasalin ng kapangyarihan ni outgoing Navy Chief Vice Admiral Ernesto de Leon kay Office of the Inspector General Vice Admiral Mateo Mayuga sa nasabing puwesto dahilan sa lobbying diumano.

Nabatid na sa kabila ng mga preparasyon matapos na ihayag ni Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita kamakalawa na si Mayuga ang successor ni de Leon ay bigla itong ipinagpaliban ilang oras bago ang turnover.

"The turnover ceremony was postphoned indifinetly due to lack of material preparations awaiting the final approval of the President ", paliwanag naman ni Navy Spokesman Captain Geronimo Malabanan.

Kaugnay nito, sa press briefing sa palasyo ng Malacañang, nilinaw naman ni Press Secretary at Presidential Spokesman Ignacio Bunye na walang pang napipirmahan ang Pangulong Arroyo na paghirang kay Mayuga.

Si Mayuga ay nagtapos sa Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class 1973 at isa sa mga pinakakuwalipikado sa hanay ng mga contenders na kinabibilangan rin nina Rear Admiral Tirso Danga, Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence (J2), Rear Admiral George Uy, Chief ng Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Alfredo Abueg, Chief ng Naval Education and Training Command at Philippine Fleet Chief Constantino Jardeniano.
