Banat Opinyon

National Women’s Month

IYO ANTOY - Antolin dela Serna - Banat

Sa atong nasud, atong gigahin ang bulan sa Marso, pagpasidungog sa atong kababayen-an, “not only to honor the historical roots of women's advocacy but also to serve as a reminder of the ongoing journey toward a just and inclusive society for all.”

Nasayod ka ba nga ang Marso, is named for the Roman god of war, Mars? However, matud dinhi, we think of it as the beginning of spring (unsa bay Binisaya ini?).

Dugang kasayoran gikan sa Google: March in the Philippines is still the dry season with warm and comfortable weather. It’s an excellent time for outdoor activities such as beach vacations, snorkeling (sa mga tourists lang ni), ug hiking.

Sa dili pa kamo malimot, ang Marso is also Fire Prevention Month, by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 115-A, kini tungod sa daghang panghitabo sa sunog niining bulana.

Dugang pa: This month of the year marks a period of exploration and new beginnings, full of possibilities and opportunities. Recognized as International Creativity Month and Self-Love Month. March encourages people to explore new hobbies, interests, skills, and passions.

“What began as a call for solidarity among working women, eventually inspired historic events, including the general strike in St. Petersburg in 1917, where 10,000 women textile workers sparked the Russian Revolution.”

Sa ato, “Anchored in international and national frameworks, such as the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, the Beijing Platform for Action, the Philippine Plan for Gender-Responsive Development (1995-2025), and the Sustainable Development Goals, kining atong pagsaulog karon, nag-highlight sa critical role sa kababayen-an in nation-building.

Sa Bibliya, unsa man an bulan sa Marso? “March's theme for scripture quotes is "Confession and Forgiveness," confessing our sins and forgiving others. This month typically aligns with the Christian season of Lent, in which we are called to repent and spiritually prepare for the celebration of Easter and Christ's resurrection.
