Marcos wants probe on ‘lack of support’ issue

MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos wants an investigation into the alleged lack of financial support for athletes competing in the Asian Games in Japan.

“Sa ganito pong pagkakataon, kinakailangan po itong pagtuunan ng pansin, saan may kulang,” Palace press officer Claire Castro said in a media briefing.

Castro made the remarks after Alas Pilipinas men volleyball star Bryan Bagunas revealed that the team has not received their allowances since July, which he rued pushed some of his teammates to borrow money just so they could train.

However, Bagunas said the Philippine Sports Commission was able to provide them with their allowance to the Asiad.

The Philippine National Volleyball Federation has apologized for the “difficulties experienced” by the spikers.
