10% usbaw sa singil sa MCWD karong abril

CEBU, Philippines — Ang Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) mopatuman sa katapusang 10 porsyento nga tranche sa gi-aprobahang pagtaas sa presyo sa tubig sugod Abril 1, 2026, sumala sa pagtugot sa Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA).

Para sa residential connections nga naggamit og ½-inch nga metro, ang minimum nga bayad para sa unang 10 cubic meters mosaka sa P259.16, taas og P23.56 gikan sa kasamtangang minimum nga rate nga P235.60.

Ang commodity charges mahimong P28.64 kada cubic meter alang sa 11–20 cubic meters, P33.71 kada cubic meter alang sa 21–30 cubic meters, ug P82.52 kada cubic meter alang sa konsumo nga sobra sa 31 cubic meters.

Matud pa sa MCWD, kini ang katapusang hugna sa pagtaas sa rate nga gi-aprobahan sa LWUA niadtong Agosto 2025. Ang pagpatuman gihimo sa hugna-hugna nga pamaagi, nga nagsugod sa unang implementasyon niadtong Oktubre 1, 2025, aron matabangan ang mga konsumidor sa pagdumala sa epekto niini.

“Operational expenses have steadily increased over the years. The approved adjustment reflects long-term operational requirements and was not influenced by short-term economic factors such as recent fuel price fluctuationn,” matud pa sa MCWD.

Matud pa sa MCWD,  ang rate hike ang pagpadayon sa adlaw-adlaw nga operasyon ug pagpondo sa mga prayoridad nga proyekto alang sa pagpaayo sa serbisyo sa tubig ug efficiency sa operasyon. Lakip niini ang mga inisyatibo sa pagpakunhod sa non-revenue water tungod sa leaks, illegal connections, ug daan nga pipeline, ingon man ang rehabilitasyon sa daan nga imprastruktura ug pagpalapad sa distribution network aron matubag ang nagkadako nga panginahanglan.

Ang pagtaas sa rate nagsunod sa aplikasyon sa MCWD ngadto sa LWUA, nga niagi og public consultations niadtong Nobyembre 2022. Bisan pa man sa orihinal nga iskedyul, nadugay ang implementasyon samtang naghulat sa regulatory review.

Ang pagtaas sa presyo sugod Abril 1 mao ang unang adjustment sa rate sa MCWD sulod sa napulo ka tuig.

Ang katapusang pagtaas nahitabo niadtong 2015, ug wala’y mga adjustments nga gihimo atol sa pandemya aron mapagaan ang gasto sa mga konsumidor.

Ang  usa ka government-owned ug -controlled corporation sama sa MCWD nag-operate isip self-sustaining entity ug wala magdawat og subsidiya gikan sa lokal ug national government. Tanang kita balik-invest sa operasyon ug imprastruktura aron masiguro ang luwas ug kasaligan nga serbisyo sa tubig.
